Beaver Williams provides testing and certification for all fire safety measures required for a building’s annual fire safety statement (AFSS). Our Essential Services team have recently conducted testing for a large prestige hotel building in Sydney’s CBD. The works included testing and certification of the mechanical air handling system, pressurizing system, smoke dampers, fire dampers, smoke exhaust and stair pressurization.
Stair Pressurizing System In the event of a fire, it is essential that the fire stairs remain free of smoke to allow the occupants to safely exit the building. Our essential services team carried out testing of the velocities and door forces to all pressurised fire exits via the stairs for three building towers.
Mechanical Air Handling System The automatic shutdown of the mechanical air handling system was tested. In the event of a fire, the ducted air conditioning and heating system must automatically shut off to reduce the risk of spreading smoke and fire throughout the building.
Qualified In-House Team
Our accredited practitioners hold the necessary qualifications to endorse all fire safety measures relating to Annual Fire Safety Statements (AFSS). Our Fire Technicians are registered with FPAS Accreditation Scheme for inspection and testing and have a sound understanding of AS1851 (2012) Routine Service of Fire Protection Systems & Equipment. We are adapting to Environmental Planning & Assessment Regulation 2021.
